Why you need to be there:

As you know, the Financial Services Commission of Ontario conducted a five year review of auto insurance legislation within the past year and submitted its report to the Minister of Finance last fall.  New regulations that will bring to life the key policy decisions of the Minister are due to be released publicly early in March.  We have been advised that the implementation date for regulatory changes will be September 2010.

OSOT has been keenly involved in the review process, representing the concerns and interests of occupational therapists as well as those of the clients that OTs serve in this sector.  We know that the changes to the Statutory Accident Benefits Schedule (SABS) will be significant and will have impact on both client access to benefits and services and the practice of occupational therapy.

While we know that members will experience change, we also know that occupational therapists are well positioned to continue to provide important and valued services to persons injured in motor vehicle accidents and to the insurance and legal professions with which claimants interact.  We believe we have been successful on several of our key advocacy issues. This notwithstanding, you will want and need to be aware of the impending changes so that you can make adjustments to your practice both to position your services and to ensure you are practicing in compliance with the new regulations come September.

OSOT is ready to assist you!  Your Auto Insurance Sector Team has crafted a proactive, dynamic and timely workshop to give you every opportunity to be informed about the new SABS and to engage in exploration about how this will impact OT practice.

See Workshop Information and Registration Materials and take action now to reserve your place.

We look forward to seeing you in April!
