Description of Opportunity

Part Time Occupational Therapist - Monarch House, Oakville, Ontario

As an Occupational Therapist at Monarch House, Oakville, you are responsible for developing programs that enable individuals to participate, to their fullest level, in activities that occupy their daily lives.  Your client-base will consist of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), as well as individuals of all other ages and needs.

Responsibilities:  

  • Assess client needs and family priorities as part of an interdisciplinary team
  • Complete assessments using tools such as standardized tests, criterion or curriculum referenced materials, or checklists
  • Develop and implement a treatment plan for each client, based on assessment results
  • Develop reports as required
  • Consult to Behaviour Analysts who supervise Applied Behaviour Analysis Programs for Children with ASD and other needs
  • Work collaboratively with the family and other community professionals
  • Maintain knowledge in current evidence-based practices
  • Collect data and make evidenced-based decisions in treatment
  • Supervise students pursuing education in Occupational Therapy
  • Represent OT department in Monarch House by contributing to clinical policies and procedures and other centre-wide visions

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in OT
  • Member of college (COTO) and association (OSOT or CAOT)
  • At least 2 years experience working with children with ASD
  • Experience and familiarity with assessment tools (standardized tests, etc.)
  • Knowledge of current research and literature in the OT field
  • Flexibility in scheduling clients
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to take initiative
  • All team members are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and provide proof of vaccination upon hire or provide a valid medical exemption
