Description of Opportunity

Niagara Children’s Centre is recognized throughout the Niagara Region as the provider of rehabilitation and support services to children and youth with physical, developmental and communicative delays and disabilities.   Core services include physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech and language services, augmentative and alternative communication, family services and therapeutic recreation.

Niagara Children’s Centre is hiring for a:

OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST (MULTIPLE 1.0 FTE PERMANENT)

The Occupational Therapist works to improve participation and quality of life through a child’s ability to perform role-appropriate, day-to-day tasks necessary for self-care (such as feeding, dressing, toileting); productivity (such as school, work); and leisure and play within their environment. This process involves assessment, identification of strengths and needs, goal-setting, treatment planning, and implementation of treatment in a direct, indirect or consultative manner, as indicated, then discharge. *Please note, the Centre is currently looking to fill five (5) full-time permanent positions*

To be considered, candidates will possess the following qualifications & skills:

  • Registration and membership in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario
  • Post-secondary degree in occupational therapy
  • Sound understanding of occupational therapy amongst children and youth
  • Strong interest or experience in School Based Rehabilitation Services OR Autism Spectrum Disorders
  • Ability to identify goals and establish appropriate treatment plans to achieve said goals with children, youth, families and other care providers both in-person and virtually through telepracticing
  • Effectively educate children/youth, families and other care providers related to their specific needs, utilizing a variety of strategies and through a variety of mediums (group, individual, lectures, online, etc.)
  • Ability to work as a member of an interdisciplinary team
  • Bilingualism considered an asset
  • Access to a vehicle and possession of a driver’s license valid in Ontario
