In this foundational webinar, attendees will learn about disordered eating, how it presents in our clients, and how to help primarily from a psychotherapeutic lens.

Session Topics:

  • What is disordered eating? Signs to watch for, causes, and co-occurring conditions. 
  • Diet culture, weight stigma, and the importance of a weight-inclusive practice.
  • Navigating pathways to care for a client: making a warm referral and strategies for short-term work.


About our Presenters:

Shelly Dilawri
has been working in the mental health space for over 15 years, including in inpatient, daypatient, outpatient, and community-based settings to support people with eating disorders. Working as a Clinical Therapist, Shelly has learned to build programs to suit the individual through the lens of Cognitive and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy.

Ary Maharaj is the Outreach & Education Coordinator at the National Eating Disorder Information Centre, Canada's source for eating disorder information, referrals, resources, and support. He is passionate about the prevention of eating disorders through the reduction of social risk factors.
