Leadership for Occupational Therapists: Are You Ready?

Workshop Description:

Over the past 10 years, non-clinical leadership roles in the health care sector have expanded, and there have been greater opportunities for other professions (beyond nursing and medical) to assume these exciting and strategic positions. This workshop will highlight the many facets of today's compelling 'leader', to explore the value that occupational therapists bring to the role and provide key insights to support those who may be interested in making transition from clinical to non-clinical practice.

Join Beth and Carey on June 14, 2019 as they facilitate your learning in the following ways:

  • Review and apply foundations of leadership in the healthcare system. Including; self-awareness, engaging others, strategy and systems, coaching and mentorship.
  • Reflect on personal and professional leadership development, career conversations, and leadership goals.
  • Learn about the experiences of and network with occupational therapy leaders.


About our Presenters:

Beth Linkewich is the Director of the Regional Stroke Centre and North East GTA Stroke Network at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. She is an occupational therapist with experience across the continuum of care in clinical, research, administrative, and academic settings across Ontario.

Beth completed her undergraduate work at Lakehead University in science and psychology, her occupational therapy training at the University of Toronto, and Master's in Public Administration at Dalhousie. She is past President of the Ontario Society of Occupational Therapists. Beth is passionate about collaborative change leadership, innovative models of service delivery, stroke and cognition, metacognitive approaches, and knowledge translation.

Carey Lucki joined Circle of Care in November 2013 and is currently the Interim President. Carey's health care background spans 25 years in both acute and community care settings including the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), COTA Health, VHA Home HealthCare and most recently, the Mississauga Halton CCAC. 

As Vice President of Client Services her portfolio includes the Call Centre, Service Coordinators, Client Service Supervisors, PSWs and Homemakers for all funded programs. Carey graduated from the University of Toronto in 1989 with a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy and is currently completed her Master of Business Administration through Heriot Watt University in Edinburgh, Scotland.

  • Occupational therapists looking to grow their leadership experience.
