Occupational therapists work in a variety of roles with clients across the health care continuum. Despite putting policies, procedures and mitigation strategies in place, safety incidents can occur. Join us for this webinar to understand your obligation to disclose safety accidents as well as to consider the impact these accidents may have on you as the occupational therapist.
Learning Objectives:
- Recognize your personal sense of safety - physically, psychologically and emotionally, as the occupational therapist, and how this impacts patient safety.
- Redefine the concept of 'patient safety' and your role as the occupational therapist.
- Understand your role as the occupational therapist to report patient safety accidents, and align with provincial and organizational requirements.
About our Presenter:
Markirit Armutlu is a currently a Principal with the Office of the Auditor General of Canada. She was the Senior Policy Advisor and Lead for Patient Safety & Incident Management with Indigenous Services Canada – First Nations and Inuit Health. Markirit is occupational therapist with extensive national and international experience in patient safety, quality and risk management, and accreditation.
