This skills-based workshop will provide: An introduction to motivational interviewing and its underlying theories, in-depth instruction in person-centred counselling skills, practice in listening for, and facilitating discussion about changes, strategies for supporting change, examples will be drawn from a range of practice areas including substance use, housing and homelessness, hoarding, and health promotion (i.e. healthy eating, disease management, and exercise participation)
This introductory course is best suited to health professionals and social service professionals and students who support individuals who are in the process of making changes in their lives, or who may be contemplating change.
