Workplace communication skills for Interprofessional Health Care Teams

This 140-hour course addresses the skills needed for successful communication among inter-professional health care teams for dietitians, nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists or social workers. Communication skills covered in the course include: describing one's occupation to another professional; providing and gathering information on client care; writing a progress note; seeking assistance from team members; providing assistance to team members; and managing challenging team interactions. 72 hours of in class sessions on Zoom (approximately 6 hours per week) and 68 hours of on-line activities (approximately 6 hours per week).
The course is designed for permanent residents or protected persons that have training and experience as a dietitian, nurse, physiotherapist, occupational therapist or social worker and Canadian Language Benchmarks 7/8 from a CLB assessment within 12 months of the course starting date (take a free assessment in person or online from the YMCA).
