OSOT - Basics of Catastrophic Designation for OTs in the Auto Sector

You will learn about the accident benefits associated with catastrophic designation, eligibility criteria, the application process, how an occupational therapist can support the file, and about completion of the OCF-19. The target audience for this session are junior/intermediate occupational therapists working in the auto sector (1-5 years of experience) or student occupational therapists.
By the end of this webinar you will learn: The additional benefits a client receives when their injuries are deemed catastrophic. Eight eligibility criteria (with a focus on accidents after June 1, 2016). The role of OTs in the process from a treatment and independent assessment perspective.
Kelly Wendt (she/her), OT Reg. (Ont.) C-CAT (FO), CMLE (ON) is an occupational therapist who successfully completed the C-CAT Certification exam as a Functional Observer in 2018 and Certification in Medicolegal Expertise exam in 2019. She is experienced in completing in-home assessments, physical and cognitive demands analyses, ergonomic assessments, cognitive abilities evaluations, functional abilities evaluations, Extended Glasgow Outcome Scale (GOS-E) Evaluations, in carrying out cognitive rehabilitation and in using cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and the progressive goal attainment program (PGAP) in the management of psychosocial symptomatology. She is an Assistive Devices Program Authorizer for mobility devices.
