Occupational Therapy for Refugees/Refugee Claimants | Interim Federal Health Program
A group of occupational therapists gather each month to consider ways to improve access to occupational therapy for refugees and refugee claimants. The group is primarily focused on improving access to occupational therapy for individuals who require palliative home care in the GTHA, though, their efforts can also support OTs working with other non-OHIP insured clients.
OTs may not be aware that refugees and refugee claimants are temporarily covered for occupational therapy services through Medavie Blue Cross under the Interim Federal Health Program (IFHP). Information on how OTs can register with IFHP for funding for their services can be found on the Government of Canada website.
If you are interested in joining the IFHP-OT Working Group or have questions about the IFHP/Medavie program, please contact Barry Trentham. When emailing, please provide your location and area of practice.
OSOT is also collecting data on members whose services are funded through IFHP. By providing your name, it will assist OSOT in matching refugees with your services.
