OSOT’s Recommendations for Ontario’s 2026 Budget

OSOT is actively championing the essential role of occupational therapy at Queen’s Park. In our 2026 Pre‑Budget submission, we’re putting forward three high‑impact recommendations that will strengthen care, reduce system pressures, and support healthier communities across Ontario:

🌟 1. Expand Occupational Therapy Services in Long‑Term Care

We’re advocating for dedicated funding for OTs and OTAs in every LTC home to enhance fall prevention, elevate dementia care, reduce ER visits, and improve residents’ quality of life.

🌟 2. Address Pay Inequities Across the System

Competitive, fair compensation is crucial to stabilizing Ontario’s occupational therapy workforce. Pay parity will help recruit and retain OTs where they’re needed most, home care, primary care, LTC, and community services.

🌟 3. Grow Ontario’s Future Workforce

We’re urging government to expand OT and OTA education programs through increased seats, preceptor incentives, and student supports. Strengthening training capacity means more skilled professionals entering the system, and earlier access to the care Ontarians deserve.
