The workshop is designed to provide occupational therapists (OTs) with the knowledge and skills to understand and advocate for individuals seeking automotive vehicle modification solutions, while also teaching practitioners about the unique process involved in evaluating, selecting and purchasing appropriate automotive options. To enhance this dynamic session further, manufacturer industry partners will be present to participate in discussions on industry topics and showcasing their products during the walkaround portion of the workshop.
During this workshop, you will: Be able to describe the unique process involved in researching and evaluating mobility equipment solutions options available for your clients/patients. Differentiate between the key mobility equipment providers involved in the automotive mobility equipment industry who collaborate with OTs. Identify useful mobility equipment resources to assist clients and their caregivers. Summarize the risks of poor awareness about safe mobility equipment options. Discuss general knowledge about accessible vehicles and adaptive equipment.
