This two-day (9:30 – 16:00 EST) practical training is suited to those with some basic CBT training/experience who wish to build their skill set. It takes an in-depth look at how to conceptualize cases, how to navigate thought record challenges, and how to work with deeper levels of thinking such as life rules and core beliefs, which are strong predictors of recovery from illness and injury. The course includes behavioural techniques, including activity schedules and the planning and debriefing of behavioural experiments. Skills in Socratic dialogue are developed and emphasized throughout. This training includes many examples of applications to chronic pain and physical disability, and includes several live demonstrations.
The presenter is certified with the Canadian Association of Cognitive and Behavioural Therapies and the Academy of Cognitive and Behavioral Therapies, and has decades of clinical and teaching experience. She is known for her informal and interactive teaching style.
