Bal-A–Vis-X is a series of Balance/Auditory/Vision eXercises, of varied complexity, all of which are deeply rooted in rhythm. Exercises are completed with sand-filled bags and racquetballs, sometimes while standing on a balance board. Bal-A-Vis-X is a progressive movement method designed to introduce students to movement patterns that build strong neural connections within the brain for optimal cognitive, physical and academic performance. The movements are both challenging and enticing. People who see it often want to join in!
Bal-A-Vis-X is focused on creating strong neural connections. It is also useful for building social connections with peers as it requires synchronization within a group. The complexity of the activity means that participants need to put down their worries and stay in the moment, something that is fantastic for our sense of well-being. The activities are simple enough in the beginning that students can learn to become peer-teachers as they help others around them to become successful. Improvements in academic outcomes are a happy side-effect of this joyful movement method. This activity is appropriate for students from Kindergarten onwards.
