What is Workplace Communication Skills for Interprofessional Health Care Teams? This 140-hour course addresses the skills needed for successful communication among interprofessional health care teams for dietitians, nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists or social workers. Communication skills covered in the course include: describing one's occupation to another professional; providing and gathering information on client care; writing a progress note. (medical documentation); seeking assistance from team members; providing assistance to team members; managing challenging team interactions.
How will the course help me? Participants will develop communication skills for working effectively on interprofessional health care teams. Participants will receive a letter of completion at the end of the course. Who can take the course? The course is designed for residents of Ontario: Permanent Resident cardholders or Convention Refugees that have: training and/or experience as a dietitian, nurse, physiotherapist, occupational therapist or social worker; Canadian Language Benchmarks 6 to 8 from a CLB assessment within 12 months of the course starting date. How is the course delivered? 72 hours in class on Zoom (approximately 6 hours per week). 68 hours of on-line activities (approximately 5.5 – 6 hours per week). When and where is the course being offered? April 23 to July 11, 2024 | Tuesdays and Fridays: 9:30 am – 12:30 pm (with some Wednesdays and Thursdays at the course end).
