Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital and OSOT Partner to Build Capacity Within the Ontario Autism Program (OAP)

The Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services (MCCSS) announced grants available for innovative projects aimed to build capacity within the Ontario Autism Program (OAP). Behaviour analysts, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists and mental health clinicians and organizations were invited to apply for the grant.

Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital invited the Ontario Society of Occupational Therapists (OSOT) to partner on a Workforce Capacity Fund application in the innovation stream. We were excited to receive the news that our application was successful!

This is an excellent opportunity for occupational therapists and occupational therapy students to learn, develop, and/or advance their knowledge and clinical skills to support children and youth on the autism spectrum.

Project Details

The grant will fund four (4) deliverables:

  • An exciting knowledge translation event, for occupational therapists and occupational therapy students in December 2022.
  • The development of a virtual community of practice during the event.
  • The development of an occupational therapy autism toolkit.
  • Group coaching and mentorship for up to 20 Ontario occupational therapists.

This is a wonderful government recognition of our profession and the beginning of many exciting opportunities for occupational therapists!
