OSOT Met with Amy Olmstead, Executive Lead, Ontario Health Teams, Ministry of Health

Marnie Lofsky, OSOT’s Executive Director, along with the leads from the Ontario Physiotherapy Association, Ontario Association of Social Workers, and Speech-Language and Audiologists Canada – Ontario branch, met with Amy Olmstead and three of her staff to discuss home care modernization.

Issues discussed include:

  • Addressing the pay gap between nursing / PSW and therapies including the inequity of the proposed pay increases for nursing and PSW but not therapies.
  • Considering new models of care and the need to consider rehabilitation in the home/community.
  • Increasing “missed care rates” and declining of “referral acceptance rates”.
  • Ensuring health human resources and how to ensure there are sufficient provider levels now and in the future.
We are optimistic about their commitment to include therapies in future conversations and to support removing barriers between sectors.
