Ontario Government Releases 2022 Fall Economic Statement 

The provincial government released the 2022 Fall Economic Statement on November 14. Ontario’s Minister of Finance, Minister Bethlenfalvy, tabled the 174-page document as a progress update for the province's finances. OSOT would like to highlight a couple of items in the progress update:

  • The Plan to Catch Up: increasing the funding for student mental health services/supports; mandatory student mental health learning for educational staff; and community-based mental health supports.
  • COVID-19 Time-Limited Funding: Increase in health sector funding from $75.2 billion in 2022-23 to $78.3 billion in 2024-25—this includes addressing the needs for health care services across the province
