Updates to COVID-19 Screening Tools

The Ontario Government has updated the COVID-19 Screening Tools

  • Workers
  • School and Child Care
  • Customer/Patrons
The updates include changes to the length of time required for isolation after exposure, a positive COVID-19 test, or the appearance of symptoms.

If fully vaccinated:
  • If you experience symptom(s) over 5 days ago and your symptoms are improving for over 24 hours (48 hours for gastrointestinal symptoms) then you would indicate “no” to the symptom on the screening tool.
  • If you are symptomatic but test negative on a single PCR test or 2 rapid antigen test taken 24-48 hours apart then you would select “no” to the symptoms on the screening tool.

If unvaccinated or immunocompromised:

  • If you experienced the start of symptom(s) over 10 days ago and the symptom(s) have been improving for over 24 hours (48 hours for gastrointestinal symptoms) and you do not have a fever, select “No" to the screening question for your symptom(s).
  • If you experience symptom(s), you need to isolate for 10 days or until your symptoms are improving for over 24 hours (48 hours for gastrointestinal symptoms) then you would indicate “no” to the symptom on the screening tool.

The isolation period is now 5 days for fully vaccinated individuals and 10 days for unvaccinated or immunocompromised individuals. The definition of fully vaccinated has not changed and includes 2 doses.
