Date and Time: May 13, 2026 | 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm Eastern Time
Webinar Description:
This webinar is recommended for clinicians and leaders seeking to optimize Occupational Therapist (OT) and Occupational Therapist Assistant (OTA) collaboration within the clinical environment, to strengthen team functioning through an evidence-informed education module created by Teresa Avvampato called Working Together for Optimal Outcomes: The Occupational Therapist (OT) and OT-Assistant in Canada . Participants will be introduced to research supporting an intentional OT–OTA collaborative practice model, demonstrating how patient-centered assignments and structured collaboration can optimize workforce capacity, improve provider engagement and enhance quality of care. The webinar will highlight key findings from the research, in part funded by the OSOT Research Fund, including themes that offer deeper insight into the factors that support successful collaboration, role clarity, and trust within teams. Understanding these themes will help participants translate evidence into practical strategies that can be applied to onboarding, team development, and day-to-day collaborative practice.
By the end of this webinar you will:
- Understand the results of a research study evaluating an education module designed to foster interprofessional collaboration amongst OT and OTAs.
- Translate evidence-based insights into practical approaches that support workforce capacity, provider engagement, and high-quality patient care.
- Learn how enhanced communication and role clarity can contribute to more effective OT-OTA collaboration and improved team dynamics.
- Identify and apply actionable strategies for implementation in a hospital setting, including onboarding, education and collaborative daily practices.
- Consider the impact of collaborative practice on patient outcomes and key clinical indicators, such as length of stay.
