Strengthening Canada’s Health Workforce: The Role of Data

Date and Time: December 3, 2025 | 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm Eastern Time

Webinar Description:
This webinar will provide a clearer understanding of the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI) and its role in the Canadian health care system.

At the onset of the pandemic, the lack of health workforce data and tools to support evidence-informed planning became evident. Without timely and relevant health workforce data and tools, decision-makers cannot allocate health workers where, when, and how they are the most needed.

The Health Workforce Information branch at CIHI is working to address data gaps by creating a more robust suite of products and tools that integrate data and information to better support decision makers, ultimately leading to better patient outcomes.

By the end of this webinar you will:

  • Learn who CIHI is and their mandate.
  • Explore what the Health Workforce Information branch at CIHI does.
  • Learn how data standardization enhances health workforce planning and policy development and how that ultimately leads to improved patient care/patient safety.
  • Understand how better data can support advancement and advocacy for the profession.
