Tools/Strategies That Make a Difference in Self-Regulation

Date and Time: February 11, 2026 | 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm Eastern Time

Webinar Description:
Self-regulation begins in the body. When children struggle to focus, manage emotions, or participate in daily activities, their sensory systems often hold the key. This practical and engaging webinar will explore how the vestibular, proprioceptive, and tactile systems shape regulation, attention, and emotional balance in school-aged children. Designed for occupational therapists and occupational therapist assistants, this webinar offers a clear, relatable look at how everyday movement and touch can either calm or activate the nervous system — and how to integrate these principles naturally into therapy sessions and classroom routines.

Through real-life examples and demonstrations, you’ll discover simple, evidence-informed strategies that help children stay grounded, focused, and ready to learn. You’ll also see how fdmt’s sensory materials can support these approaches with practical, easy-to-use options. Join us to feel inspired, strengthen your confidence with sensory-based strategies, and leave with actionable ideas you can apply the very next day to support children’s self-regulation in effective and developmentally supportive ways.

By the end of this webinar you will:

  • Identify how the vestibular, proprioceptive, and tactile systems contribute to a child’s ability to self-regulate.
  • Recognize common signs of sensory dysregulation in school-aged children.
  • Apply practical strategies that use movement and touch to promote regulation and attention.
  • Integrate simple sensory tools and routines into daily therapy sessions or classroom settings.
  • Consider sensory materials to support individualized self-regulation goals.
