Most people are aware of the health benefits and importance of sport. It is less clear, however, how occupational therapists can fit into the sport landscape in Canada. This webinar will:
- Explain how sport fits into the occupational definitions of leisure and productivity.
- Identify three ways the occupational therapist role in sport is unique from other healthcare disciplines.
- Describe the importance of sport in the occupational therapy scope of practice.
- Access three new sport resources to inform and expand occupational therapy practice.

Presenter:
Rosey Lapointe, OT Reg. (Ont.) earned her BSc Psychology at Trent University and her MScOT at Dalhousie University. She has worked at the West Durham Family Health Team (WDFHT) for the past three years, where she developed and established the OT role. The WDFHT's integrated Model of Care emphasizes health promotion and disease prevention and patient education and self-management. Rosey provides client-centred assessment and counselling for chronic conditions and uses treatment approaches such as motivational interviewing, psychoeducation, cognitive behavioural therapy, and social prescription.
