Motor Vehicle Accident Recovery: Client and OT Perspectives

Date and Time: May 21, 2025 | 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm Eastern Time

Webinar Description:
This webinar will provide insight into the biopsychosocial factors that influence recovery for clients with non-catastrophic injuries sustained in motor vehicle accidents (MVAs). This webinar has been developed from research that explored the perspectives of both injured clients and occupational therapists working in the auto-insurance sector with respect to post-MVA recovery.

The information presented will emphasize how recovery within an insurance context influences the recovery process. How occupational therapists can address the identified factors that influence recovery in clinical practice to best support their post-MVA clients, will also be shared.

This webinar would be of value for occupational therapists working in the auto-insurance practice sector who are keen to strengthen their understanding of the complexities of post-MVA recovery.

This research was funded by the 2023 Ontario Society of Occupational Therapist's Research Fund.

By the end of this webinar you will:

  • Appreciate the physical and psychosocial consequences of MVAs for those injured.
  • Describe the factors that influence recovery following an MVA within the biological, psychological and social domains.
  • Recognize the presence of the identified factors within your clients.
  • Articulate the role for occupational therapists in addressing these factors to best support client recovery post-MVA.
