Working with OTAs to Use a Virtual OT Model in the Community

Date and Time: April 1, 2026 | 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm Eastern Time

Webinar Description:
The evolving landscape of home and community care continues to challenge care delivery systems to integrate innovative ways to meet client needs efficiently, safely, and equitably within the currently funded model. This webinar explores how occupational therapist assistants (OTAs) can be effectively integrated into a virtual occupational therapy service model to expand access, enhance collaboration, and improve client outcomes. You will gain insight into how OTAs, under the supervision of an occupational therapist (OT), can bridge the gaps that exist in OT resources. The webinar will also provide practical strategies and examples for implementing a virtual occupational therapy model with OTAs in the home.

Real-world examples will highlight how this collaborative model maintains high-quality care while optimizing clinician capacity and responsiveness. Presenters will share their best practice frameworks, their practical workflows, case studies and have a panel discussion with the OTs and OTAs involved in the program. The webinar will also explore alignment with evidence informed theory and best practice standards.  You will leave with a clear understanding of how collaborative practice, grounded in trust and shared purpose, can improve client access to occupational therapy services in the community.

By the end of this webinar you will:

  • Examine how integrating OTAs within a virtual occupational therapy model can address resource gaps and enhance access, collaboration, and quality of care in the community.
  • Apply best practice frameworks, workflows, and regulatory standards to support effective supervision, communication, and care delivery between OTs and OTAs in a virtual model.
  • Evaluate opportunities to improve patient experience, strengthen collaboration with funders and increase access to care.
