Are you an occupational therapist assistant (OTA) in Ontario from a recognized program in Canada? Attend this webinar for free! To register, email osot@osot.on.ca the recognized college you attended and year of graduation.

Date and Time: June 5, 2024 | 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Webinar Description:

Within the changing landscape of health care in Ontario, this is an exciting time to consider how we, as health care providers, maximize our practice to provide the best client care possible. Respecting the roles of our colleagues and care partners helps to build strong teams, which calls for true collaboration with occupational therapist assistants (OTAs). In order to enhance this collaboration, and in response to the 'call to action' stated in Competencies for Occupational Therapists in Canada, released in 2021, a task force was formed. In February 2024, Competencies for Occupational Therapist Assistants was released. These competencies are closely aligned with those of their occupational therapist partners, ensuring that we are working together to help clients achieve their goals.

By the end of this webinar you will be able to:

  • Understand the Competencies for Occupational Therapist Assistants, released February 2024, and understand how these competencies align with occupational therapist competencies.
  • Embrace the occupational therapist assistant role as a strong partner in client care and also a strong advocate for the role of occupational therapy.

Presenter:

Sylvia Davidson (she/her), OT Reg. (Ont.)
is a recently retired occupational therapist who worked with older adults for most of her clinical career. She has practiced in acute care, rehabilitation, long term care and the community. She continues teaching and her work has focused on a wide range of topics that are relevant for older adults. Sylvia has never stopped learning from her patients and their families, and she believes strongly in the benefit of sharing our stories, listening to and learning from each other.
