This webinar will provide an overview of the mobile shower commode chair and its role in enhancing the function and independence of the client. A focus on clinical decision-making and optimizing function to align with client goals and environmental needs will be explored.
By the end of this webinar you will:
- Identify two adjustable features of a mobile shower commode chair and how those adjustments can impact the function and positioning of the client.
- Explain two key measurements that impact the accessibility of a mobile shower commode chair to an individual's bathroom environment.
- Formulate at least two strategies to optimize the fit of a mobile shower commode chair in the client's bathroom environment.
Presenter:
Britta Schwartzhoff, PT, DPT, ATP/SMS earned her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from St. Catherine University in St. Paul, Minnesota. She is a RESNA-certified Assistive Technology Professional and Seating and Mobility Specialist. Throughout her career, Britta has worked as a physical therapist and clinical educator across various settings, specializing in complex rehab needs. She also has extensive experience providing collaborative care in a seating and positioning clinic and is passionate about promoting independence, function, and health optimization across the lifespan. She currently serves as a Clinical Education Specialist with Altimate Medical and is an active member of the Clinician Task Force, St. Catherine DPT Alumni Advisory Board, and a board member for United Cerebral Palsy, West Central Wisconsin.
