This webinar is part of an educational series launching OSOT’s newly designed website named En-AGE (Enabling Ageing, Growth and Engagement; www.en-age.ca). Focusing on older adults growing into a senior citizen, this webinar will explore the landscape of civic engagement and volunteerism, and opportunities to incorporate this into your practice.

Session Topics:

  • Introduce the En-AGE Growing into Senior Citizenship module.
  • Discuss the benefits of civic engagement and volunteering as an occupational role in older adulthood.
  • Position occupational therapists to incorporate a focus on civic engagement and volunteerism into their clinical practice.


About our Presenters:

Colleen McGrath
is an Assistant Professor in the School of Occupational Therapy at Western University. Her work takes a critical qualitative perspective to look at how the environment (physical, social, cultural, political/institutional) impacts the occupational engagement of older adults aging with vision loss.

Aaron Yuen is currently a Transition Care Lead at SE Health. As the former Manager of Volunteers and Community Resources and Lead Elder Life Specialist at William Osler Health System leading the senior-friendly hospital initiative, he has extensive passion in promoting volunteerism, both clinically and strategically.
