Description of Opportunity

The Opportunity:

The Advanced Clinician Practitioner in Arthritis Care (ACPAC) therapist is an independent primary care provider who is responsible for the provision of advanced assessment, screening , triage , and rehabilitation of people with arthritis. The ACPAC therapist:

  • Possesses all the skills and attributes outlined in the job description for Arthritis Society Clinician (Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists).
  • Facilitates the delivery of coordinated and efficient care in the community through strategic partnerships.
  • Provides care with a high level of accountability and a broad scope of practice in the community, frequently seeing clients without a confirmed diagnosis or with undifferentiated arthritis and may work under medical directives to enhance access to care for people with arthritis.

Candidates eligible for this role will be supported to complete the ACPAC training program for 10 months if they do not already have this designation.

This role will involve travel within the Greater Sudbury region and will include both clinic and home visits. As such, regular access to a motor vehicle, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to travel is essential.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • University degree in Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy.
  • A member in good standing with the relevant regulatory College of Ontario.
  • Advanced Clinician Practitioner in Arthritis Care (ACPAC) post-graduate certificate from the University of Toronto, Faculty of Medicine or equivalent completed (If not completed, is eligible for and committed to completing the next ACPAC course scheduled and will be supported to attend).
  • 2/3 years of relevant clinical experience in musculoskeletal care with a minimum of one year experience in rheumatology.
  • Experience working with people with chronic diseases preferred.
  • Experience working in a progressive interdisciplinary setting preferred.
  • Previous experience with OTN, or other platforms for delivery of virtual service preferred.
  • Proficiency in the use of computers and related software/hardware, i.e. Microsoft Office.

COVID-19 Vaccinations

A requirement of employment at the Arthritis Society is to be and remain fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (including receiving such booster vaccinations as are recommended by provincial or federal health authorities from time-to-time). As such, successful candidates must provide satisfactory proof to the Arthritis Society that they are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. The Arthritis Society will consider, on a case-by-case basis, requests for medical or other exemptions from this requirement based on protected grounds under applicable human rights legislation. Where an exemption is granted, an employee may be required to undergo testing for COVID-19 and demonstrate a negative result at regular intervals to be determined by the Arthritis Society, and at the cost of the individual (subject to applicable law). At the Arthritis Society’s discretion, this vaccination requirement may be extended to apply to such other vaccinations as are required or recommended by provincial or federal health authorities to maintain a safe and healthy workplace and community, including by preventing infectious disease transmission.
