Interoception Part 2: Clinical Reasoning, Case Studies and Adapting Interoception Supports for Young and/or Non-Speaking Clients | May 2 and 9, 2024 | Online via Zoom | 9:00 am to Noon MST Each Day | This workshop is intended for those who have already attended the SAOT workshop with Kelly Mahler in 2023, or those who have received other training in interoception with Kelly Mahler or another presenter. This is considered an intermediate level workshop. Attendance results in better learning outcomes. Provision of a recording is only at the discretion of SAOT. NOTE – Recordings will not be provided except where a registrant has made a request in advance. Recordings will only be provided in the event of an extenuating circumstance – personal illness, personal injury or family emergency. When granted, a recording will be available for seven days.
Learning will focus on application of previously covered interoception science and strategies with a variety of clients. Part of this course will focus on the grading and adaptation of interoception strategies for use with specific populations including preschoolers and non-speaking clients. The second part of this course will focus on clinical reasoning using case studies submitted by registrants in advance. We will use these case studies to walk through common considerations and nuances of the interoception intervention process.
Learning Objectives: Identify at least two methods for adapting interoception strategies for the clients you serve. Identify and adapt at least two interoception strategies for supporting clients that are very young and/or have complex communication needs. Describe two clinical reasoning nuances or considerations that can be used to guide clients in their interoception journey.
